The poisonous cardiac glycoside iridin is found in the leaves and rhizomes of the Iris Family. If ingested symptoms include nausea, elevated temperature, vomitting, abdominal pain, severe purgation can result. It is dangerous to animals. It is also found in the roots of the Violet flower family. Iridin is also called Irisin, Irisine or Isophthalic Acid.
