The side branches appear to have a rust-coloured bark and to be in short sections with contorted twigs coming off at regular intervals. Note the stumps where a twig has either failed to grow or has fallen off - the one at the bottom appears to have a hexagonal canker. The leaves are 2-pinnate. |
Many similarities to : Silverpole Pine, but instead of a single bowl-type flower, that has several pole-type flowers, one is obviously female whilst the other male. Hybridizes with : BT Masticus Mobilus telephonicus No relation to : Hyperbole Pine (Itwassocoldeventheflames onthecandlesfroze) Inhabits small hills in acid uplands. First discovered by the discoverer on the first day of April by R.W. Darlington; henceforth named 'darlingtonii' after himself.
